The Spanish Ministry of Finance published an information note proposing to defer the implementation date of Verifactu regulation to October 2028. This way both Verifactu regulation and mandatory B2B e-invoicing for companies with a turnover of up to \u20ac8 million would start at the same time.<\/p>\n
Spain’s Verifactu regulation requires businesses and self-employed professionals to use certified, tamper-evident invoicing software that records and optionally transmits billing data directly to the Spanish Tax Agency (AEAT). The requirement to comply with this VeriFactu Regulation under current legislation is planned to come into force on the following phased basis:<\/p>\n
1st January 2027 – Taxpayers obliged to report under the Spanish Corporate Income Tax system<\/p>\n
1st July 2027 – Spanish branches and permanent establishments of non-resident companies eligible for the Non Residents Income tax<\/p>\n
This postponement has not been formally approved and therefore has no legal effect yet. The current deadlines stay binding until an amending provision is published in the BOE.
