The Italian Revenue Agency issued a protocol that introduces procedure for the automated VAT settlement in case taxpayer fails to file Annual VAT Return. New procedure is going to be streamlined though the system automation and will rely on pre-existing digital data already submitted to the Italian VAT Authority via electronic invoicing system, telematic cash register receipts, periodic VAT settlements and payments records.<\/p>\n
In case automated assessment in triggered, the taxpayer will receive a formal notice and from that date will have 60 days to either pay the requested liability or provide clarification.<\/p>\n
Taxpayers should therefore ensure any missing annual filings are regularised to avoid heavy penalties for omitted declaration, which are stated as 120% of the VAT due. This penalty can be reduced to one-third (down to 40%) in case the liability is settled within initial 60 days from the date formal notice is sent.<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
