Germany – Planned reduction in VAT rate on restaurant meals

Germany plans to permanently reduce the VAT rate on food in the hospitality sector to 7% from 1 January 2026. The reduction in the VAT rate was initially implemented on the temporary basis during the COVID-19 pandemic and extended several times until December 31, 2023.
