Finland – change in the VAT refund process

Starting from 19th August 2025 it will no longer be possible in Finland to carry the credit forward of a VAT refund to offset against future VAT liability. A VAT refund for every reporting period will automatically be refunded to the taxpayer after the processing is finalised. Additionally, any outstanding VAT refunds due from the Finish VAT Authority are expected to be paid out approximately by 26th August.

Taxpayers are urge to review the bank details stored by Finnish VAT Authority to ensure refunds are paid to the correct bank account.
